We understand how novel the coronavirus (COVID-19) is so, the decision to halt face-to-face therapy was the safest option. Following the Prime Minister’s statement on 10 May 2020 regarding the movement of England to the second phase of COVID-19 pandemic response, we still feel it is necessary to halt the face-to-face sessions.
Our therapists are in regular contact with their current clients via phone calls and Zoom sessions and have been facilitating activities for them throughout this period. This is to ensure the relationship stays strong and they have the familiarity of their therapist in their routines.
Despite the change in operations, we are still open for new referrals to come in. We can carry out initial meetings and assessments for the most appropriate intervention for your child/children over video calling and put preparations in place to start working face-to-face at the earliest but safest opportunity. This may help build a relationship with your child throughout this difficult period and be able to start face-to-face therapy based on firm boundaries between the therapist and client.
Upon initial return to face-to-face, we as a business have decided to eliminate the sand tray from our equipment for the time being. This decision was made due to the high risk of transmission and we would not be able to minimise the Covid-19 risk factors.
Your child and our therapist’s safety will be at the forefront of our decision of when to resume. Our therapists have a ‘return to work safely’ protocol to adhere to once we start face-to-face sessions again, so you can be assured that they will do everything possible to minimise the risk of Covid-19 in the playroom.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Stay safe and well,
AW Play Therapy Team
